The best time of year to visit Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is from May to September, when the weather is warm and mild. The park is open year-round, but winter conditions can make activities such as hiking and camping difficult. Some visitor services and facilities may also be closed during the winter season.

Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is located in western Colorado, near the town of Montrose. The canyon is situated within the Gunnison National Forest, and extends for 48 kilometers (30 miles) along the Gunnison River. The park is known for its dramatic scenery, with steep cliffs and narrow canyons that reach depths of over 1,800 meters (5,900 feet). Wildlife in the park includes bighorn sheep, elk, deer, and mountain lions.

Some of the most popular attractions in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park include the Gunnison River Gorge, Painted Wall, and Chimney Rock. The park also offers a variety of ranger-led programs, including hikes, walks, and Talks.
